Tasneem Essop, Executive Director, Climate Action NetworK:

A just and equitable transition towards sustainable renewables and committed to protecting workers and communities is the way forward. The people have spoken and our leaders cannot afford to ignore this growing groundswell of resistance.

Alex Rafalowicz, Director of the Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative:

This weekend, more than half a million people across all continents took to the streets to call on governments to  take the necessary political measures to #EndFossilFuels #FastFairForever. The collective power of our mobilisations will pierce the stranglehold the fossil fuel industry has had on the world for decades. This is the beginning of the end of the fossil era and the beginning of a world free of oil, gas and coal. For the transition to be as just as possible, governments need to support the growing call for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, the missing legal framework the world needs to #EndFossilFuels #FasrtFairForever.

Luisa Neubauer's, Fridays For Future Germany:

The power of the people is impossible to ignore. In Germany, youth climate activists mobilised together with unions, churches, musicians and even CEOs - and 250.000 people showed up. We demand radical changes that are so desperately needed, and have been long promised through the Paris agreement. The climate was once considered a "niche" issue in some of the most privileged countries across the world. Today it is where it belongs: in the heart and centre of societies everywhere.

Lidy Nacpil, Coordinator, Asian Peoples' Movement On Debt And Development:

Over twenty thousand people joined the rallies across Asia. There were big rallies with three thousand to five thousand participants, like in the Philippines, Bangladesh and Pakistan. In other countries, citizens took to the streets in groups of 30 to 40 in various parts of their cities. All rallies made an impassioned call on behalf of the Global South for ending fossil fuels. Global North countries must deliver their full fair share of climate actions, including meeting their climate finance obligations so that the Global South can rapidly shift to efficient, safe, renewable energy.

Allie Rosenbluth, oil change international:

Today we marched as a united front, driven by unprecedented heat, alarming droughts, extreme floods, and consequent loss of livelihoods, homes, and people. Those responsible for the destruction have names. The culprits are fossil fuel companies and their government allies, who choose to expand extraction and continue to profit at our expense. President Biden decided not to attend the Climate Ambition Summit next week — and no wonder, since showing up would mean exposing his inadequate climate policies and relentless support for fossil fuels on the global stage. The United States is planning the world’s largest expansion of oil and gas extraction, accounting for one-third of pollution from new fossil fuels. Biden should be worried about this climate hypocrisy. We showed up today and we will show up tomorrow and every day after until we have a just transition to a clean energy future on a thriving planet.

Tyrone Scott, War on Want & Climate Justice Coalition:

Across the weekend we saw people take to the streets across the UK in the name of Climate Justice and for an end to the era of fossil fuels. From Edinburgh to Leeds, across to Wrexham and down to London, thousands took to the streets in over 30 towns and cities, to send a message directly to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. We demand an end to fossil fuels and an end to planet destroying projects like the Rosebank Oil Field.

Marijn van de Geer, Extinction Rebellion UK

"The UK parades as a climate 'leader' while being the second largest oil producer in Europe with a government planning to ‘max out’ fossil fuel reserves. The Govt is giving out hundreds of new North Sea oil and gas licences, approving the Cumbria coal mine plus granting new and extended on-shore drilling. This flies in the face of all warnings that there can be no new fossil fuels if we wish to maintain a habitable planet. People all over the UK, from many diverse organisations, rose up in protest to tell the truth and call for an end to the fossil fuel era, uniting in their common desire to build a new and better fossil-free tomorrow."

More than Half a million of people, 650+ Actions, 7 continents

The Global Fight to End Fossil Fuels calls for nations to renew and enhance their commitments for a rapid, just, and equitable phaseout from fossil fuels in favor of sustainable renewables. The campaign opposes the fossil fuel industry, which has made obscene profits at the expense of the world’s people, biodiversity and a safe and liveable climate. It calls on governments and companies to immediately end fossil fuel expansion and subsidies.

More than 3800 organizations had endorsed the demands of the global campaign to end fossil fuels through a rapid and fair transition.
